THE AURA DRIVING EXPERIENCE Part 1 When they first delivered the 2007 Aura to my door, I just stood there and said, wow! This four door sedan is driving excellence. With its V6 3.6 liter engine the pick up is more than expected, and handles great in turns. Breaking is even better than the Saturn Vue I currently own. In fact, in a test drive, I noticed perfect balance when swerving to avoid a piece of debris in the road. Up to now Saturn has spent most of its investment on its engine and dynamic engineering. Now equipped with a Cadillac engine, the Aura is packed with luxury and possess a sense of European style design seldom seen in an American automobile. The Aura looks a little like a Ford Five Hundred at a class, but its style is smaller, and the details of the vehicle set it apart. It is a new found convenience to have a two-way altering available for the steering wheel. The seats come with a heater feature, and with its new AM/FM/XM radio easy to program/operate option. Techies and non techies alike will enjoy the entertainment features while on board. Most of all, this Aura has one of the quietest rides I have experienced in a long time. The engineered bevel in the sliding electric windows does more to minimize road sound, and the cars doors close snuggly to ensure a tight fit. Car trunks sometimes are a disappointment but not with the new Aura. Saturn, in its wisdom chose to design a shock strut format built into the car hatch outside of the parameter of storage. In this manner, the maximum space allotted for storage is available without the threat of crushed contents. The Aura is at the heart of the Saturn rebirth. The public spoke and Saturn listened. Customers said they wanted more comfort in seating, and Saturn responded with better neck and lower lumbar back support. There appears to be more general softness in the seating, spearing passengers of stiffness during long term driving. I noticed during a drive to Orlando the better than expected mileage, and ease on the body during a longer drive. I hate trying to park between other cars, but I found driver viewing to be easier to get into tight spaces without the fear of over compensating. Frankly, if you are looking for comfort and a little more luxury without the sticker shock price, I strongly endorse your test driving an Aura today! |
